Allan Zaleski has been in the news recently after John Grisham announced that he will be writing a screenplay about the Norfolk Four.
Michelle Moore-Bosko, a young Navy wife, was raped and murdered in her Norfolk home in 1997. Eight men were arrested; five of them were eventually charged. Four of the five men now say that they only confessed to the crime under threat of the death penalty. The fifth man, Omar Ballard, has admitted to killing Moore-Bosko alone, and is the only one who’s DNA was found at the scene. Danial Williams, Joseph Dick, Jr., and Derek Tice were convicted of rape and murder and are still in prison serving double life sentences. Eric Wilson, who was only charged with rape, has been released from prison. Since the verdict, the case has been reviewed by a number of experts, including ex-FBI officials, who agree that the men were wrongly accused and falsely confessed.
Allan Zaleski was one of the lawyers who represented Derek Tice. He believes that his client should be pardoned. Michelle Moore-Bosko’s parents believe that all of the men convicted are guilty of their crimes and do not want their story to be adapted to a screenplay.
