Crossing guard hit by vehicle

A school crossing guard suffered non-life-threatening injuries Thursday after being hit by a vehicle.

The guard, an off-duty sheriff’s deputy who wasn’t identified, was in front of Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School on Princess Anne Road preparing to stop traffic shortly before 3:15 p.m. a police spokesman said.  That’s when a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis pulled out of a neighborhood of townhomes across the street and struck her.

The driver James Holloway way, 87, was charged, police said.
