A major
Norfolk area drug ring, which consisted of at least seven individuals, was recently disrupted by federal agents. The crime ring is suspected of distributing more than $4.3 million dollars worth of cocaine and marijuana throughout
Norfolk and
Hampton Roads in Virginia.
Federal agents believe that the drugs were being imported from several states and countries including Georgia, Texas and Mexico. According to the
Virginian-Pilot, the drug ring had been in operation for at least the past seven years. Seven individuals have been indicted for their alleged participation of the group. Five of those indicted individuals have been arrested.
Numerous additional suspects are also believed to have been involved in the crime ring. For instance, one man was recently arrested and charged with drug trafficking after authorities caught him with $700,000 in cash. The federal
indictment alleges that the drug operation was being run out of a home near the Green Run High School in Virginia Beach.
