Friendly dogs can make great family pets. However, pet owners need to remember to keep a close eye on their animals to make sure that they do not injure others. The
Hampton Health Department reported earlier this week that they are looking for a local dog that is responsible for biting and injuring a woman earlier this week.
According to
local reports, a woman was walking near Edgewater Road when two women approached from the opposite direction walking a large brown and white dog. The dog is believed to be part mastiff. The woman attempted to avoid the dog but it lunged at her and bit her in the hip. The Hampton Health Department is searching for the dog and its owner so that the dog can be tested for rabies and other illnesses, which may have infected the victim.
The Hampton Health Department is encouraging anyone with information on the location of the dog or the identity of the dog’s owner to contact them immediately. Virginia pet owners have an obligation to ensure that their pets do not cause harm to others. If you have been the victim of a dog bite, a Hampton Roads personal injury
attorney may be able to help. Call a
local attorney who is experienced in dog bite and personal injury cases today for a free consultation.
