A startling accident occurred on John Tyler Highway Monday at 8 p.m. A minivan traveling down the Richmond area highway seemed to have lost control, drove off the road and rolled several times. The vehicle ended up hitting a dump truck heading the opposite direction on the highway. The crash resulted in the death of a 13-year-old boy who was a passenger in the van. The van also contained three adults and three other children. The passengers were taken to a local Richmond hospital and treated for their injuries. It is reported that their injuries ranged from non-life threatening to critical. The truck driver was taken to a Williamsburg hospital for treatment; his injuries were also non-life threatening.
