ODU Student Killed

The victim of the recent Old Dominion University shooting was the nephew of Maryland Congressman, Elijah Cummings. The victim, 20 year-old Christopher Cummings was a junior at ODU and studying criminal science. His roommate was also shot and taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. The hospital has not released anymore information on his status.

Rep. Cummings has been an advocate for gun control for quite a while, so he is familiar with the pain and emotions of gun shot victims and their families. He commented that it is different when gun shot deaths happen in your own family but it allows him to better understand the lives and emotions of those who have been in similar situations.

According to police they are still looking for the suspects and the motives for the attack; as of Monday no one has been arrested. Christopher lived in an off-campus apartment. According to reports, there have been four other robberies on that same block in the past month.
