Most Virginia drivers will receive a speeding ticket or other motor vehicle citation at some point during their lives. In many cases, a Virginia traffic
attorney may be able to get the ticket thrown out or reduced depending upon whether the Commonwealth of Virginia can produce enough evidence to sustain the citation. One traffic incident that occurred this week, however, may prove very difficult to defend.
On Wednesday afternoon the driver of a Jeep was traveling at a high rate of speed down I-264 in the westbound lane. Suddenly, the driver came upon congested traffic and was unable to stop his vehicle. In order to avoid hitting the cars that were directly in front of him, the driver swerved off the road and collided with a state police motorist assist unit that was stopped along side of the highway.
According to
reports, the Virginia police officer who was sitting in his vehicle at the time of the collision was not harmed in the crash. The driver of the Jeep sustained minor injuries in the accident and was treated at a local hospital. The driver was later charged with reckless driving and driving without a valid driver’s license.
If you have recently received a traffic citation by a
Virginia police officer, it is often in your best interests to speak with a Virginia traffic
attorney before conceding to the ticket by paying your fine. An experienced traffic
lawyer in Virginia may be able to get your ticket thrown out or reduced. In some cases, this may mean the difference between keeping and losing your driving privileges.
