Tractor Trailer Accident In Portsmouth Shuts Down Portions of I-264

Due to their size and cargo, tractor-trailers have the potential to cause serious injuries when they are involved in accidents on Virginia’s roads and highways. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the tractor-trailer accident that shut down portions of both the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-264 in Portsmouth, Virginia earlier this week.

According to news reports, the driver of the tractor-trailer had fallen asleep at the wheel while transporting a truckload of blood plasma. The truck veered off the roadway, flipped over, and caught fire. Fire trucks and a Hazmat crew were called to the accident scene to battle the fire and clean up the roadway.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer reportedly sustained minor injuries and was later charged with reckless driving. If you have been involved in a car accident or tractor-trailer accident, you should contact a Virginia lawyer to assess your case. You may be entitled to compensation for your injuries and expenses. An experienced Virginia attorney can work to ensure that your right to compensation is protected.
