Virginia Beach Man Charged With Hit-and-Run

A Virginia Beach man was arrested and charged with a felony hit-and-run after he allegedly struck an 11-year-old girl with his car as she attempted to cross Lynnhaven Parkway with several of her friends. The man has been accused of fleeing the scene following the accident. According to news sources, the young girl is currently hospitalized and listed in critical condition.

This incident does not appear to be the man’s first run-in with the law. A Virginia court recently found the man guilty of an unrelated assault and battery incident that occurred in 2009. The verdict in the assault and battery case was supposed to be deferred until later this fall; however, the man was brought before a Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court judge last week for failing to comply with the stipulations of a community corrections program.

The man accused of critically injuring an 11-year-old girl is scheduled to appear at trial on May 25, 2011. If you have been arrested and charged with a DUI, traffic violation or criminal offense in Norfolk, Hampton Roads, Virginia Beach or the Suffolk area, an experienced Virginia defense attorney may be able to help. The Commonwealth considers these types of violations to be very serious offenses. A Virginia DUI and traffic lawyer can provide you with an exceptional legal defense and ensure that your rights are protected to the fullest extent under the law.
