James Pizer of Virginia Beach appeared in
federal court in Norfolk this past Tuesday and pled guilty to five charges of armed bank robbery. The robberies took place across the Tidewater area and included locations in Chesapeake, Suffolk and Virginia Beach from approximately July to November of last year.
Pizer also admitted that he attempted to rob a sixth bank in November of 2010. According to
local news reports, bank employees recognized Pizer from a warning flier that was distributed by local law enforcement as he was approaching the sixth bank that he intended to rob. The bank tellers refused to let Pizer enter the bank.
Pizer fled from the bank but was arrested later than day. Pizer is scheduled to appear back in federal court in September for sentencing. He is facing a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.
