Car accidents are responsible for thousands of injuries and deaths each year in the
Commonwealth of Virginia. Many of those accidents could be avoided if drivers chose to use additional caution and care while operating their vehicles on Virginia’s roadways. Unfortunately, police officials are still investigating the causes that lead one
Virginia Beach woman to drive her vehicle into a local restaurant.
According to
news reports, an 76-year-old woman named Elizabeth Briggs, lost her life when her vehicle, which was traveling eastbound on Virginia Boulevard, suddenly accelerated and veered off the roadway. Before Ms. Briggs’ car came to rest, she crashed through a chain link fence, drove over a curb and through a dirt lot, and finally collided with a local restaurant.
Ms. Briggs was taken to the hospital by emergency personnel, but later died of the injuries that she received in the crash. According to
reports, the woman was wearing a seat-belt at the time of the accident. The local police authorities have not identified the cause of the accident. It is unknown whether alcohol, a medical condition or a vehicle defect played a role in the collision. If you or someone you know has been involved in an automobile accident, a Virginia
personal injury attorney may be able to help.
