Virginia Man Arrested For DUI After Stealing Chesapeake School Bus

A Virginia man was arrested earlier this week and charged with a DUI. When police caught up to him they found him driving a Chesapeake school bus, which had been reported stolen. The arrest occurred across state lines in New Bern, North Carolina. Police officials received a tip from another motorist who reported that the school bus was driving erratically and weaving in-and-out of its lane. The driver also allegedly drove through a railroad crossing while it had its crossing arm out.

Police officers caught up with the bus driver and were able to get him to stop. According to local news reports, there were no other passengers on the bus. The driver will face charges for DUI, driving without a valid driver’s license and possession of stolen property when he appears in court in early June.

If you have been arrested for a DUI in Virginia, you should contact an experienced attorney who is intimately familiar with the DUI and traffic laws in Virginia. Self-representation in DUI cases is generally not recommended due to the complexity of the evidentiary laws in this area. An experienced DUI attorney can ensure that your legal rights are protected and that you receive the most favorable outcome possible in your Virginia DUI or traffic case.
