Virginia Tech recently received notice that they have been named in a personal injury lawsuit involving a teenage boy. In 2009, the Seth Greenberg Basketball Camp was held at the Wall Memorial Gym at Virginia Tech. One of the camp participants fell while engaging in camp related activities. The teenage boy struck his head against the wall of the gym and sustained numerous injuries including a brain injury, fracture, bruises and cut wounds. Although the boy has recovered,
reports indicate that he poses a greater risk of future injuries and health complications as a result of the fall.
According to
reports, the lawsuit alleged that the wall that caused the teenage boy’s head injuries should have been padded. The lawsuit also indicated that the game official who was present at the time of the injury was not sufficiently qualified or trained. Essentially, the parents of the injured child are suing because they feel that both the school and the basketball camp did not exercise the appropriate degree of care to prevent injuries of this nature.
All in all, the family of the injured child is seeking $2.5 million in their lawsuit against Virginia Tech and the Seth Greenberg Basketball Camp. The family reports that they have incurred large medical bills as a result of their child’s injury. If you or someone you know has been injured on the property of another individual or business, a Virginia
personal injury attorney may be able to help you recover for your injuries and medical expenses.
