Is it a good idea to handle the case myself without a lawyer?

 

A: Unfortunately, insurance companies do not work for you and they will rarely help you in figuring out your legal rights. The assessments are rarely fair. If the sustained injuries are significant a good lawyer is the best help you can get. If you hire a lawyer who will take your case to trial, value is added to your case. A good lawyer will seek through each damage category that is applicable to your case, and find ways to support the damages with evidence in court. Your bargaining power increases significantly just because of a threat of trial itself. Remember that the insurers know that it is nearly impossible to take a case to trial on your own
