Is there a limit on the amount of time that I have to file a claim or lawsuit?

A: Yes.  In most cases, you will have two years from the date of your injury to file a claim.  This period of time is called the "statute of limitations."  Once this two-year time period expires, you will not be eligible to file a claim or a lawsuit in most cases.  For this reason, it is best to contact an attorney to discuss your claim as soon as possible after your injury.
