The insurance company has asked me to give a recorded or written statement. What should I do?

A: You should consult with an attorney before providing any type of statement to an insurance company. If you happen to innocently leave out some of the details of the accident, your omission could be used against you if your case goes to trial. An experienced personal injury attorney should be present if you decide to give a statement. Otherwise, you run the risk of jeopardizing your claim.
