What can I do if I am the victim of nursing home abuse or suspect that a loved on is being abused?

 

A: If you have experienced physical or sexual abuse at a nursing home or assisted living facility, you should contact the police immediately. The Commonwealth of Virginia has also established an Adult Protective Services Unit that will investigate suspected instances of abuse. They maintain a 24-hour hotline that you can call at:(888) 832-3858. You should also contact a local attorney who is experienced in handling nursing home abuse cases to learn about they types of legal action that you can take.
