Two very bizarre car accidents have been reported in Norfolk, VA recently. Norfolk police dispatchers said a car hit a telephone pole and flipped several times in the 5700 block of Granby Street near Arden Circle on the morning of March 16, 2011.
A police spokesman said that the driver apparently lost control of his car and rammed into a utility pole, causing the car to flip and pinning the driver inside, according to a local news report.
The driver was transported to a local hospital with what police said were non-life threatening injuries, the local news report said.
Northbound lanes in that area were blocked for some time, as rescue crews and fire department personnel worked at the scene.
No other cars were involved in the accident, the local news report said.
Car Breaks Window at Laundromat
The very next evening, elsewhere in Norfolk, a car went through the front window of a public laundromat.
Local police said the accident happened at the Soap and Suds, located on Poplar Drive, according to a TV news report.
Police were very worried that the brick veneer above the window of the building was damaged by the car crash, possibly posing a hazard for pedestrians.
A building inspector was dispatched to the scene to check on the damage.
No one was hurt, according to the local TV news report.
