An accident involving five motor vehicles occurred in Norfolk, Virginia near the Military Highway exit on July 1, 2011, shutting down the interstate for several hours and diverting traffic. The crash involved two motorcycles, two cars, and a pickup truck.
Dwayne Bubose, 41, of Virginia Beach, lost control of his motorcycle while speeding and hit a pickup truck. At the same time that Bubose's motorcycle collided with the pickup truck, George Nipper, 41, crashed his motorcycle into Bubose's motorcycle. Nipper was riding with a passenger, and both were thrown from the motorcycle. According to Virginia State Police, the two motorcycles had been traveling at extreme speeds.
Two cars hit Nipper when he was ejected from the motorcycle. Sadly, he died at the scene. His passenger was injured, but should make a full recovery. Bubose survived the collision, suffering non-life threatening injuries.
The drivers of the two cars and the pickup truck did not suffer any injuries and were not charged.
We offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends impacted by these tragic events. We also hope for a quick recovery for those who were injured in the accident.
