On Saturday, July 9, 2011, a car accident on Virginia's Interstate 64 led to the death of Santell Deneen Dobson, who was only 17 years of age. Dobson, a teenager from Williamsburg, crashed her car at mile marker 233 in James City County when she and another passenger were driving east on I-64 during the early morning hours.
Virginia State Police were called to the scene at 6:08 a.m. Upon further examination, it was determined that Dobson lost control of her motor vehicle, overcorrected, and veered off the road. Dobson then struck a tree. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Virginia State Police, Dobson was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, but it is unknown whether or not alcohol was a factor.
The passenger in the car was injured and transferred to a hospital for treatment. The condition of the passenger is unknown at this time.
We extend our deepest condolences to family and friends impacted by this tragic event. We also hope for a quick recovery for the passenger involved in this motor vehicle collision.
