Portsmouth police officer Jason Knorowski, 40, was placed on administrative leave after hitting a car in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven located at 725 London Boulevard in Portsmouth, Virginia. The accident occurred at 12:20 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011.
Knorowski, who is the president of the Southeast Chapter of the Virginia Police Benevolent Association, was driving his Jeep when he hit the driver's side door of a Ford F-150, causing minor damage. Knorowski was off-duty at the time of the accident.
Police were called to the scene and, after administering a series of tests, determined that Knorowski was driving while intoxicated. Police then arrested Knorowski on a DUI charge. Knorowski has been with the Portsmouth Police Department since 1998.
Nobody was hurt in the incident. The Portsmouth Police Department's Professional Standards Unit is conducting an internal investigation.
