A Virginia motor vehicle accident in Yorktown on Monday, August 8, 2011, resulted in the death of Lieutenant Colonel Christopher P. Kaiser USAF, 38, of the 100 block of Ostrey Point in Yorktown.
According to Virginia State Police Sergeant Michelle Anaya, Kaiser, who was driving a 2006 Hyundai Tiberon at 5:30 a.m., made a left turn onto US Route 17 from Battlefield Road when Jacob Frederick, driving a 2002 Ford Ecoline, ran a red light at the intersection. Frederick, 33, of the 8000 block of Roaring Springs Road, struck Kaiser on the driver's side. According to police, Kaiser died on impact.
Frederick was taken to a hospital in Newport News with non life-threatening injuries.
Charges are pending upon review by the Commonwealth's Attorney.
