A TV news report indicates that police responded to an accident at 2:08 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011, after a car hit a business sign at 808 Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach. But what they found when they arrived did not look like the typical, late-night car accident scene.
According to the WTKR-TV report, local police and paramedics arrived at the scene in the wee hours of the morning of St. Patrick's Day to find a single, young female bleeding from her head. A gun-make and model not disclosed at this time by police-was also found inside the car. The young woman was later pronounced dead at the scene by local paramedics, and local homicide police were then called to the scene of the accident.
The early local police investigation, according to the TV report, shows that the accident victim was reportedly seen by witnesses walking around her 2009 Nissan Altima after the crash, examining the damage on the passenger's side of the car. No other facts were available about the crash or its immediate aftermath, however.
The victim's dead body was later transported to the office of the Virginia Beach chief medical examiner for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The victim has been identified as Lauren Broom, 23, of the 2800 block of Bluebill Drive, Virginia Beach.
