Virginia Car Accident Claims Life of Crossing Guard in Chesapeake

A Virginia motor vehicle accident on Monday, October 03, 2011, took the life of Lovette T. Person, who was working as a crossing guard in Chesapeake, Virginia. Person was directing traffic at the intersection of Brittany Way and Terry Drive at 7:30 a.m. when she was struck by a red Toyota pickup truck. The driver, who was taking her son to school, said that she could not see Person standing in the middle of the road because the sun was in her eyes.

Person was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Sadly, she died from the injuries sustained as a result of the crash.

Police are continuing to investigate the motor vehicle accident. At this time no charges have been brought against the driver.

Person, who was only 35 years of age, lived on the 1800 block of Summer Hedge Close in Virginia Beach. She had been working as a crossing guard for almost 18 months. Person was also an employee of the Chesapeake Police Department.
